Modern Foreign Languages
MFL Update......
Before the Easter break, 4AT had a visit from a group of Year 10 Blessed George Napier pupils. The children were split into groups and then taught a range of words and phrases in either French, Polish or Spanish. They played a range of games and activities designed by the Year 10 pupils to help them remember the new vocabulary they had been taught. When the children came back into class, they were all keen to share their new knowledge and skills with their friends. Thank you so much to BGN school for this wonderful opportunity and well done to the Year 4 pupils for their enthusiasm and concentration on learning the new vocabulary.
In Reception, the children have loved exploring different cultures and languages from around the world. We have been enjoying listening to various types of music and, so far, Bangra music has been the biggest hit! We have also been reading picture books that the children know really well in English, such as We’re Going On A Bear Hunt and The Very Hungry Caterpillar, but in different languages, such as French and German. The children have been fantastic at using the pictures to help them understand the story. We have also had a lovely discussion about the different languages we speak at home and how we say hello. We also try to answer the register each day in a different language.
