Recorder Workshop at Tudor Hall
As part of the Banbury Early Music Festival, 10 Year 5 pupils (accompanied by Mrs Silva Nuñez) had the opportunity to visit Tudor Hall to see the recorder quartet, Palisander, perform some of their music. The children were able to get involved, singing along to a tarantella and clapping rhythms. We were wowed by their selection of recorders of all shapes and sizes. During one song, Palisander used the full range of instruments, progressively getting smaller and smaller. The recorders ranged from the sub-contrabass recorder (which is over 2.5m in height!) to the garklein, which measures a tiny 16cm and amazed everyone in the room! Some of the children enjoyed it so much, that they took their families to see Palisander play again at St Mary’s Church as part of the festival the following day.
